Arizona Science Center
Project: Atrium Water Interactive
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Installed: February 2012
Anchoring the outdoor exhibit space, the 16’-0" tall central tower with a rotating auger sends balls cascading down ball tracks, a rotating plinko board, and water wheels. Four satellite water stations, which are equipped with their own unique water and ball interactives, distribute the action throughout the entire courtyard. Laminar jets with fiber optic lighting transport and illuminate balls to mesmerize the visitors. Music is created at an adjacent station by manipulating water jets that spray cymbals and drums. Overhead, balls are launched by hand crank air pressure cannons and sent zipping along the stainless steel tracks to other satellite stations. It’s a mind-blowing stimulation of all senses!
