Muncie Children’s Museum

Muncie Children’s Museum brought in Boss Display to design and fabricate their reimagined water play area. The White River themed water table transforms elements of the surrounding area into vibrant, educational play opportunities. Graphics produced by the gallery designer, Kraemer Design + Production, were implemented into a vinyl wrap that displays the aquatic life in the river and completes the space.

Project: Waterworks Water Table

Location: Muncie, IN

Installed: January 2024

The water table serves as a centerpiece of the museum and can be seen from multiple other galleries.

The water table is full of interactive space for multiple guests to play simultaneously.

The graphic side panel displays various species of fish that the river supports.

The table features a boat lock system allowing visitors to navigate their boats into lower sections of the river.

Guests can navigate their sailboats down the river avoiding obstacles like topo and duplo dams.

Handwheels positioned around the table support cause-and-effect learning all while having a blast.

Guests can use the lever to collapse the vortex and drain the water into the table.

The handwheel activated rainclouds provide a unique water source for the table.

The custom water mill, inspired by actual structures on the river, encourage guests to control the flow of water and see the wheel spin at various speeds.
