Discovery Center at Murfree Spring

The WaterWorks gallery was designed to reflect elements of the natural Murfree Springs wetlands while promoting hands-on learning. The oversized rocket ship ball drop provides an eye-catching spectacle in the space and acts as an engaging starting point. Interactives like aqueducts, dam tabs, a water bernoulli, and squirt guns promote scientific and mathematical learning as well as sensory exploration and the development of social skills.

Project: WaterWorks

Location: Murfreesboro, TN

Installed: May 2022

Users can load plastic balls into the blower cabinets and send them into rocket shaped vortex.

The interactive boat lock and dam educates visitors on real life aspects of rivers and water management.

Mounted squirt guns are used to activate various spinning targets on the water wall section of the gallery.

The water wall section maximizes the available space and encourages guests to track the pathway their ball takes as it winds through the plinko and tipping water shapes on the wall.

Custom colorful water fountains mimic those found outside the museum.

Handwheel activated rain clouds provide a fun and creative water source midway through the table.

Users can create their own water ways using the adaptable aqueduct interactives.
